The Constitutional Court ruled that the 1 year and 3 month prison sentence imposed on journalist Neşe İdil on charges of “terrorist propaganda” following an application by the MLSA violated her right to a fair trial. İdil was tried in 2023 for social media posts, and the court decided to postpone the announcement of the verdict. The Constitutional Court ruled that the verdict was not subject to review and that the defenses were not sufficiently evaluated, and sent the case back to the Istanbul 22nd Heavy Penal Court for retrial.
