A group of students from the Student Collective made a statement in Kadıköy Caferağa on October 15 demanding an increase in KYK scholarships and cancellation of loan debts. After the statement, the police detained nine students on charges of “insulting the president”. The students spent the night at the police station and were taken to the Anadolu Palace of Justice in Kartal on October 16. After their statements at the prosecutor’s office, the court released the nine students with a ban on leaving the country and judicial control. “We just wanted to improve KYK scholarships, we will continue our struggle,” the released students said.
