19 of 21 people who were detained for participating in the “Standing Man” protest in Taksim on May 28th, the anniversary of the Gezi Park protests, were released with judicial control. While 2 children under 18 were released, the first hearing of the case against the other 19 will be held on October 8, 2025 at Istanbul 5th Criminal Court of First Instance. The young people said that they only testified by standing still, that they were detained without any warning, and that they were subjected to harsh intervention by being handcuffed behind their backs. They emphasized that they are participating in the trial as witnesses, not defendants.
