Saturday Mothers gathered for the 1053rd time at Galatasaray Square to demand justice for Mehmet Sait Zengin, a HADEP member and shopkeeper who disappeared after being detained by plainclothes police on May 6, 1995. Despite all appeals by his family and the Human Rights Association, Zengin’s fate has not been revealed for 30 years. The statement emphasized, “There can be no justice without an end to impunity and no peace without justice.” European Parliament Turkey Rapporteur Nacho Sánchez Amor also watched the protest on the spot.
