Sözcü TV, which was not on air during the 10-day broadcast ban imposed by RTÜK, received another fine during this period. Thus, it became the first channel in media history to be fined during a broadcast ban.
The channel resumed broadcasting at 00.01. Editor-in-Chief Özgür Çakmakcı said in the first minutes of the broadcast that the penalty was related to criticism of a speech by President Erdoğan in 2004.
While Çakmakcı did not share the details of the new fine, he said the channel is likely to be fined again.
