Youth organizations in Adana commemorated the 33 people who lost their lives in the Suruç Massacre in 2015 with a march and a press statement. The youth marched from Atatürk Park to İnönü Park, chanting “Don’t forget Suruç” and “The murderous state will be held accountable”. Adana Labor and Democracy Forces also supported the commemoration event.
In the statement made at the event, it was emphasized that the massacre was a state operation against the revolutionary struggle. During the event, there was tension after a person attempted to provoke. DEM Party Youth Assembly Spokesperson Devran Şimşek was detained after being subjected to police violence and allegedly beaten. Şimşek was released in a semi-conscious state and taken to hospital.
