RTÜK imposed administrative fines on three television channels and two radio stations for broadcasting violations. SZC TV was found to have exceeded the limits of criticism with the statements “has lost its legitimacy” and “Cihannüma clique” directed at the political authority. Edessa TV was fined for using the phrase “vandal culture” in a program about the ruins of Ani, on the grounds that it was contrary to national and spiritual values. TLC was fined for showing obscene scenes in the film “The Devil’s Advocate.” A penalty was imposed on Metro FM for reading a listener message that could encourage drug use without warning, and on Burhaniye Radyo Ses for broadcasting content that allowed prisoners to communicate via radio.
