The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office filed a lawsuit against bianet editor Tuğçe Yılmaz under Article 301 of the Turkish Penal Code for a news story covering her interview with young Armenians in Turkey. The Istanbul 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance accepted the indictment and set the first hearing for December 2 at 2:30 p.m. Yılmaz will be tried on charges of “insulting the state and its institutions” in her news story. Criticizing the investigation, which was launched following a complaint to CİMER, Yılmaz described irregularities during the detention process and said the case served as a warning to journalists. Emphasizing that she did not target anyone in her reports, Yılmaz stated that she believed she would be acquitted.
