The protest ban, which started to be implemented in Van in 2016 during the state of emergency and lasted for more than 5 years, was once again extended on the grounds of “national security and public order”. In the statement made by the Van Governorate, it was announced that all kinds of demonstrations, marches, rallies, meetings and sit-ins to be held on January 14-28 were prohibited. With the ban decree, the distribution of leaflets and signature campaigns to be organized in the city were also bound to permission by the civil administration.
