Hacettepe University students demonstrated on campus on October 17 to protest the hikes in cafeteria fees and the 11th Judicial Package, which includes discrimination against LGBTI+ people. Students faced a police and private security blockade as they marched to the rectorate building. The police intervened the protest without allowing any speeches and detained 30 students. University students demanded the abolition of the reservation system and the cancellation of discriminatory regulations.
