The Cizre Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has decided not to pursue charges against MA editor Dilgeş Ruvanas in an investigation conducted under Article 216 of the Turkish Criminal Code for her posts criticizing the turning a blind eye to the deforestation in Şırnak. The decision stated that for the crime of “inciting the public to hatred and hostility” to be established, there must be a concrete and imminent danger, and that Ruvanas’ statements and her limited-access account did not pose such a danger.
