In the case heard at the Eskişehir 2nd Heavy Penal Court, the prosecutor requested a prison sentence of 3 to 7 years for former Eskişehir Metropolitan Mayor Yılmaz Büyükerşen on charges of “obstructing the performance of duties.” The prosecutor also requested that Büyükerşen be subject to a political ban and that the alleged public damages be recovered. In the opinion, prison sentences were requested for some of the other 21 defendants on trial in the case, while fines were requested for others. The court postponed the hearing until February 20 after lawyers requested time to make statements against the opinion.
