Rights organizations published a monitoring report documenting the bans and police interventions against the 2025 Istanbul Trans and LGBTI+ Pride Weeks. The report stated that the marches were arbitrarily banned and at least 95 people were detained with back handcuffs and violence. Grounds for detention included accusations such as “being in a public space” and “carrying LGBTI+ symbols”. Three people were arrested. According to the report, freedom of expression and the right to peaceful assembly were violated, and the indictments contain discriminatory statements. Rights organizations call for all charges to be dropped and detainees to be released
