A lawsuit was filed against Galatasaray University student Arda Karademir, 21, due to “publicly insulting the President” for his social media post after the February 6 earthquakes. Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office demanded a prison sentence of up to 4 years and 8 months for Karademir. Karademir, who lost many relatives in the earthquake, has been under house arrest for 95 days. His lawyer Mustafa Atahan Öztürk objected, describing what happened as “enemy criminal law”.
