The Press Ad Authority (BIK), which was founded in order to mediate the publication of public ads on newspapers and magazines, brought an ad embargo against BirGün and Evrensel Daily newspapers. The authority is a public organisation making financial aid for newspapers for publishing official ads. BIK stopped ad and bulletin streams of BirGün initially due to the Print and Seller-Refund Books being kept late and later due to “not using a source” in some news articles; of Evrensel due to “news headlines.” Thus, it was revealed once again how the institute works as an authority of censorship and penalisation against opposition newspapers.
