Journalist Fatoş Erdoğan, who was covering news in front of the CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency building, was wounded with a rubber bullet during the police intervention.
Jinnews reporter Erdoğan stated that she was targeted while covering the police attack. She shared photos from her X account showing her wounded state and wrote, “I said stop, I am a journalist, but they didn’t stop… I came home with a plastic bullet bruise from today’s police intervention! My hair is covered in gas! This is what I got from two days of covering the CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency resistance!”
Erdoğan’s remarks sparked a renewed backlash against violations of press freedom.
