In Artvin’s Şavşat district, the police removed the resistance tent set up in front of the municipality by workers who were dismissed after the local elections and were not reinstated despite being reinstated by a court decision.
Reacting to the removal of their tent, the workers organized a march through the streets and made a press statement in front of the municipality. The statement was attended by the executives of Belediye-İş Union, CHP and Left Party representatives and many citizens.
Yaşar Kaspar, head of the Artvin-Rize branch of the Belediye-İş Union, said, “The mayor, who does not recognize court decisions, is challenging the judiciary. They destroyed our tent but they will not destroy our struggle.” Workers announced that they will continue their protests until they get their rights.
