Protests were held on December 25 against the announcement of a 27 percent increase in the minimum wage in Istanbul, which remains below the poverty line. Members of the Socialist Party of the Oppressed blocked traffic in Gazi Mahallesi. Members of Kaldıraç and İşçi-Sen wanted to march to Taksim. Police intervened by blocking the march to Taksim and detained many people.
