Students at Boğaziçi University organized a march protesting the murder of 15-year-old Hilal Özdemir while she was working at a wedding. University students gathered in Güney Square and wanted to march from the campus to Hisarüstü.
The police prevented the march by setting up a barricade. The students reacted against the police preventing their own demonstration, which did not prevent the murder. The police attacked the students when they insisted on marching, saying that the university administration was also responsible. 30 students detained.
