Human Rights and Equality Institution of Turkey (TIHEK) penalised the tradesmen, who hung a poster on their shop displays that stated, “Iranian, Syrian, Afghan clients cannot enter this shop; otherwise they would be beaten in here.” The TIHEK penalty within the discrimination ban indicated that an individual cannot be prevented from accessing public services based on their race. The 1000 TL penalty fine was turned into a warning due to remorse. The lawsuit previously filed against the tradesmen due to “public incitement towards hatred and hostility” continues.
