Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into the exhibition “Starting from the Middle” opened by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) on the charge of “inciting or insulting the public to hatred and hostility”. The exhibition was targeted through media organs close to the government and social media; it was attacked on the grounds that it contained “insults to national and spiritual values”, LGBTI propaganda and sexually explicit paintings.
