The Bolu Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office issued detention orders for 22 people as part of an investigation into Bolu Municipality’s tender for driverless vehicle and construction machinery rentals. An expert report dated 25 August found that some garbage trucks were shown as having worked on days when they had not and that contractor MCY-Yeşilçam Joint Venture was overpaid 34,288,376 lira, including VAT and price differences, under 19 progress payments. Prosecutors initiated judicial proceedings against 23 people, including suspended Mayor Tanju Özcan. Detention orders were issued for 22 suspects other than Özcan, who was already jailed in another case. In operations centered in Bolu and carried out in seven provinces, gendarmerie teams searched the municipal building and seized tender and progress payment documents.
