Comedian Deniz Göktaş was arrested again on charges of “publicly inciting the public to hatred and hostility” and “insulting the President,” on which he had been ordered released on 28 August. Following the prosecutor’s objection to the release order, Istanbul 28th High Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant on 31 August. Göktaş attended the hearing from prison via SEGBİS and separate arrest orders were issued for the two offenses. Göktaş had been released on these two charges on 28 August but, before leaving prison, was arrested again on a charge of “praising crime and criminals” over jokes about the Daltonlar criminal organization in his show “Ölü Deniz.”
