Thirty-six people were detained in Ankara’s Çubuk district for allegedly sharing the locations of police and gendarmerie checkpoints on social media and helping drivers evade inspections. Çubuk District Police teams determined that the suspects messaged one another on a social media platform to report checkpoint locations and that this enabled wanted drivers, drivers involved in crime or drivers with missing documents to evade inspections. The 36 people were apprehended in a simultaneous operation ordered by the Çubuk Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office and were referred to prosecutors after police procedures.
