Several people, including Bayrampaşa Mayor Hasan Mutlu and five deputy mayors, were detained in the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. Detention warrants were issued for 48 people on charges of “extortion”, “bribery”, “qualified fraud” and “bid rigging”. Mutlu denied the charges, saying the detention was a political operation.
