The first hearing of the case against students detained after the 2023 METU Pride was held in Ankara. The court-appointed expert report revealed that the police intervention began with the use of pepper spray and plastic bullets on campus. Despite this, no investigation was launched against the law enforcement officers; the students who participated in the march were prosecuted. The students and their lawyers requested acquittal, stating that the action was peaceful and that constitutional rights had been exercised. The trial was postponed until April 1, 2026.
