The lawsuit filed on the bomb attack organized by ISIS against the Peace Rally organized in Ankara on 10 October 2015 was concluded. In the case with 19 arrested defendants and 17 fugitives, the court sentenced nine defendants with 101 times heavy life imprisonment with additional imprisonment sentences of 10,557 years in total due to ‘homicide attempt.’
Lawyers of the defendants have made a statement after the announcement of the verdict, pointing out that no public officer with neglect or responsibility for the incident were involved in the lawsuit, and that the responsibility of the government is being covered up. “Not only public officers, some of the offenders of the incident were also excluded from the case file. Files of offenders who openly had first-hand connections to the massacre were closed. The court didn’t allow for those identified individuals to stand trial; ignored revealed information and avoided from even putting them on trial,” the lawyers stated.
