The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office issued a re-arrest warrant on May 21 for three children who had been detained following Newroz events and released on April 24. The police re-arrested two of the children. The prosecutor’s office targeted the children with charges of propaganda based on flags, banners, and photographs at the Newroz venue. Veysel Demirkaya, a lawyer with the Human Rights Association (ÖHD), stated that the children’s rights to liberty and security had been violated.
