Writer Mehmet Serhat Polatsoy, a prisoner in Urfa T Type Prison No. 2, revealed in his weekly phone call with his family that he was beaten by a soldier while handcuffed and subjected to heavy insults at Urfa Courthouse where he was taken for a hearing. Polatsoy, who suffers from chronic asthma and COPD, drew attention to the poor conditions in the detention center and the negligent behavior of the soldiers. His family and lawyers stated that they will file a criminal complaint regarding the beating and ill-treatment.
