İnan Mayıs Aru, who declared her conscientious objection in 2008, applied to the European Court of Human Rights due to the non-recognition of this right and the administrative investigations and penalties against her. In the application, prepared by lawyer Kerem Altıparmak and related associations, it was stated that due to the ineffectiveness of domestic remedies, the application went directly to the ECHR. The application emphasized that Articles 3, 6 and 9 of the ECHR were violated.
