Lawyer Burak Saldıroğlu, who was arrested on May 9 on charges of “insulting the President” for distributing IBB Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu’s social media posts, was released. The indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office cited Saldıroğlu’s statements against President Erdoğan in his social media posts. Saldıroğlu’s lawyer Mehmet Turgay Bilge stated that this process is an artificial trial practice and that his client was arrested for political pressure.
