Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office filed a lawsuit against HKP lawyers Ali Serdar Çıngı, Fettah Ayhan Erkan and Pınar Akbina Karaman, who filed a criminal complaint against President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, on charges of “insulting the President” with a prison sentence of 1 to 4 years.
The lawyers had filed a criminal complaint to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office against Erdoğan and 6 people for distributing weapons with vehicles belonging to AKP Youth Branches after July 15, based on Sedat Peker’s claims, but the application was rejected.
They also filed a criminal complaint regarding the appointment of Abdülkerim Murat Atik as General Director of TCDD by presidential decree, but this file was also dismissed.
The prosecutor’s office prepared an indictment, deeming the statements in the lawyers’ criminal complaint petitions as “insulting the President”. The General Directorate of Criminal Affairs of the Ministry of Justice granted permission for prosecution on August 8, 2025. File sent to Istanbul High Criminal Court.
