Eğitim Sen members wanted to make a press statement titled “How Much Does a School Bag Cost?” in front of the Ministry of National Education in Ankara. The police prevented the statement by setting up a barricade.
Upon the prevention, the union members started a sit-in protest next to the barricade. Kemal Irmak, President of Eğitim Sen, criticized the expenditures of the Palace and said, “No child will go hungry with the money spent in a month. This is the system we object to.”
Irmak also targeted the Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin and said, “Your seats will fall on your heads because of the sighs of poor children. Those seats will be hell for you one day because of the children who die in MESEMs.”
The union announced that they will continue their actions until the barricade is opened.
