A lawsuit was filed against writer and PEN International member Gökhan Yavuzel on the charge of “openly inciting the public towards resentment and hostility”, due to an article he wrote with a cultural and artistic content. The first hearing of the case will be held on December 7 at the Ankara 7th Criminal Court of First Instance. Another lawsuit filed against the writer, who is living abroad, with the allegation of “insulting the President”, on the grounds that he used the phrase “You will fall” for the government in a statement about the death threats he received on social media, was heard at the Şanlıurfa 4th Criminal Court of First Instance last September.
