Ankara West Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office prepared an indictment against retired teacher Ü.N. with the charge of insulting the President through his Facebook posts.
The indictment showed social media posts as crime evidence, including one depicting Erdoğan with the comic that states, “We’re not saying don’t think, think… But think inside of yourself”; as well as the photo of Erdoğan falling from a horse with the writing, “Those brave men went on their beautiful horses but the last one couldn’t, so we have to bear with him now,” the photo with the writing, “I told Müge, she will find your diploma as well!” and the comment that states, “Muslims don’t celebrate the New Year’s, they open churches, e.g. The Iron Church.” The retired teacher’s comments on the social media were also shown as crime evidence, including one on a photo of Erdoğan, saying, “A world sultan promising death to children…” as well as sharing one photo of Erdoğan with a costume of sultan with the writing, “Press Freedom.”
On the other hand, the Prosecutor’s Office filed a separate lawsuit against the social media posts of the teacher due to “public denigration,” “public denigration of religious values adopted by a part of society” and “insulting public officers because of their duty” at Ankara West 6th Criminal Court of First Instance.
