The prosecution of journalist Hasan Cemal started at Istanbul 36th Assize Court due to his column published in 2015 on T24 news website with the title, “From Silvan: How they made us get used to pain and death…” Cemal is charged with “making terrorist organization propaganda” due to his interviews with three people in Silvan, including Co-Mayor Zuhal Tekiner, during the curfews as well as his column in which he explained his observations in Silvan. The next hearing was scheduled to April 16, 2019.
