A lawsuit was filed against 41 lawyers five years after their protest of the court board during the “KCK Case” in Diyarbakır in 2014. In the hearing held on February 3, 2014, lawyers protested the court by applauding the judges after their many requests were denied without reason. The lawyers have then left the courtroom.
The indictment prepared by Batman Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office charged 30 with “misusing their duty” and claimed imprisonment sentences against the remaining lawyers registered at Ankara and Batman Bar Associations between 6 months and 2 years. Accepting the indictment, Batman 1st Assize Court sent the file to Diyarbakır 12th Assize Court due to the provision that the “prosecution must be done where the crime was committed” in accordance with the Legal Practitioners Act.
