The Personal Data Protection Board initiated an ex officio investigation on February 20, 2026, into TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, X, and Discord regarding the protection of children’s personal data and on the grounds of “the best interests of the child.” The Board announced that it would investigate how social media platforms process children’s data and what measures they have taken.
