Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, who was residing in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London since 2012, was detained and arrested after the withdrawal of his right to refuge given by the Ecuadorian government. Assange was taken out of the embassy building with handcuffs and was seen forced towards a police vehicle by security forces.
Wikileaks had shared many confidential information with the public on the activities and relations of the US Army in Iraq and Afghanistan, including torture against slaves in American base Guantanamo in Cuba, extrajudicial executions in Kenya and other civilian deaths during the war in Afghanistan and Iraq. There is a risk that Assange may be handed to the US government. Ecuadorian President Lenin Moreno announced that the United Kingdom gave a guarantee that Assange “will not be sent to a country with death penalty in force.”
