The Görele Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office filed a case against journalist Canan Coşkun, documentary filmmaker Kazım Kızıl and Rabia Naz Vatan’s father Şaban Vatan over their investigation into Rabia Naz Vatan’s death. Prosecutors alleged that the three pressured witness Mürsel Küçükal and restricted his freedom of movement during a meeting in 2019, and sought prison sentences of between 4 and 14 years for “depriving a person of liberty by using force, threat or deception.” Kızıl was also charged with “attempting to influence a fair trial.” Coşkun and Kızıl rejected the charges. Görele 1st Criminal Court of First Instance accepted the indictment and scheduled the first hearing for 22 October.
