Hatay 2nd High Criminal Court dismissed the retrial of journalist Burcu Özkaya Günaydın on a charge of “making propaganda for an organization” because the five-year supervision period had expired. Günaydın had previously received a deferred announcement of the verdict over a social media post she made during Operation Peace Spring in 2019. On 14 October 2025, the European Court of Human Rights ruled that the decision had violated freedom of expression and the case was reopened. Günaydın and her lawyer requested acquittal, but the court decided to dismiss the case.
