Journalists Semra Pelek, Dicle Baştürk, Ozan Cırık, Eylem Yılmaz and Melisa Efe were detained from their homes in Istanbul as part of an Artvin-based investigation. While there is a confidentiality order on the file, the journalists were transferred to Artvin by bus. DİSK Basın-İş and the Journalists’ Union of Turkey have stated that the journalists are being targeted for their professional activities and demanded their immediate release. The detentions are allegedly linked to charges of membership in a terrorist organization.
