The Ministry of Culture’s ban on artists supporting Ekrem İmamoğlu and the Saraçhane protests from giving concerts at venues such as the ancient city of Ephesus was brought to the agenda of the Parliament. CHP Deputy Chair Ulaş Karasu stated that this ban was politically motivated and said, “This is an unacceptable censorship and a shameful act.” The ministry was asked whether artists were blacklisted for their oppositional views and support for LGBTI+. Karasu also emphasized that censorship has been officially declared and that the crackdown on artists is an attack on democracy.
