Journalist Reyhan Hacıoğlu was released at the first hearing of the trial where she was charged with “illegal organization membership”. In the trial held at Van 2nd High Criminal Court, Hacıoğlu emphasized that news reporting is not only 5N1K for journalists, but also a conscientious, political and moral responsibility. He responded to the accusations against him by saying, “What I do is not a crime, it is journalism.” The court released Hacıoğlu on judicial control conditions and adjourned the trial to October 9.
