The second hearing of the trial of journalist Mehmet Üçar, who faces up to 15 years in prison on charges of “being a member of an organization,” was held at the Batman 2nd Heavy Penal Court. Üçar did not attend the hearing. His lawyer, Şirin Şen, and the prosecution requested that the deficiencies in the case file be remedied. The court decided to conduct an address search to take the testimony of witness Berfin Atlı and to continue the ban on Üçar leaving the country, postponing the hearing until February 12, 2026. Üçar was detained on November 26, 2024, as part of an investigation based in Eskişehir. After 225 days in custody, he was released on judicial control at his first hearing.
