On Sunday, July 6, journalist Timur Soykan, who was detained on Saturday, July 5, was released after his interrogation at the criminal court of peace on duty.
BirGün newspaper reported that Soykan was greeted enthusiastically by his family and fellow journalists in front of the courthouse. Images of the moment of his release were shared on social media.
Soykan was detained for three social media posts he made following the detention of CHP mayors, and charged with “publicly disseminating misleading information in a manner likely to disrupt public peace”.
