Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 5 rejected the request for lifting the ban on leaving the country in the trial of journalist Mehmet Şahin on charges of “being an illegal organization member”. The court adjourned the hearing to November 13. Şahin is on trial for participating in various press statements, making speeches in Kurdish and preparing TV programs. Şahin, who was previously sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison, was retried with an appeal decision.
