Arrested journalist Ercüment Akdeniz will appear before a judge on Thursday, July 31st within the scope of the Istanbul-based HDK investigation. In a message to BirGün, Akdeniz said, “I am one of the last three people to be arrested and the last journalist in the case. All my colleagues and the public know that we are right.” Akdeniz also stated that long detentions hindered his journalistic activities and that he was deeply affected by not being able to report on migrants and refugees. Journalists Metin Yoksu and Kardelen Taş were previously released from prison.
