Istanbul University deemed Ekrem İmamoğlu’s master’s degree in Human Resources Management with thesis invalid on the grounds that “the undergraduate graduation requirement was not met” and “there was a deficiency in the conditions for admission as a student”. The university decided to delete the graduation record from AKSIS and YÖKSİS and remove the thesis from the National Thesis Center. In March 2025, IU also canceled İmamoğlu’s undergraduate diploma on the grounds of “absence” and “clear error”. In connection with this process, Istanbul 59th Criminal Court of First Instance accepted the indictment for “forgery of official documents in a chain”; the hearing will be held on September 11.
