Emin Aydın, the editor-in-chief of the news website Aydın Denge, was arrested for his news reports about Özlem Çerçioğlu, the mayor of Aydın Metropolitan Municipality who switched to the AKP. The prosecutor’s office launched an investigation into Aydın’s news and social media posts criticizing Çerçioğlu. The detained journalist was sent to prison after interrogation by the prosecutor’s office. Aydın had written that the concert organized after Çerçioğlu joined the AKP was empty. Journalist Ergün Poyraz was previously arrested for the same reason.
